Grading system and ECTS credits

Grading system is based on the continuous assessment of the students’ academic performance. Students are given grade points in each subject where 60 points equal to the minimum passing grade (6), while the precise ranges of points lead to the best possible grade 10 (95-100 points).
Grade points are given on the basis of tests, exercises, presentations, seminars, case studies and active participation in lectures held throughout a semester. Past examination forms are no longer applicable.

Final grades are formed in accordance with accumulated points, as follows:

Along with the assessment of the students’ performance in each subject, additional ranking of students is performed by applying the ECTS grading scale, as follows:

ECTS grade scale (class)

Required percentage of students who passed examinations

Final percentage of students’ acquired knowledge, skills and competencies during studies

A – Class I

10 %

95% - 100%

B – Class II

25 %

85% - 94%

C – Class III

30 %

75% - 84%

D – Class IV

65% - 74%

E – Class V

60% - 64%

passed

100 %

above 60% to 100%

Class I (A) includes 10% of students who gained the highest amount of points regardless of their final grade. The percentage is calculated only for the total number of students who passed an examination. Students who did not pass the examination are excluded from this calculation. All other ECTS classes are calculated in the same way.

Based on the ECTS grade scale, the following ranking lists of the most successful students are formed:

  • the list of most successful students in a particular subject/course;
  • the list of most successful students during one semester;
  • the list of most successful students during one academic year;
  • the list of most successful students during one study cycle.

Likewise, these lists are formed in regard to all study programmes, semesters, study years and studies, faculties, and the University.

All students who have completed their studies are awarded with the adequate commendation based on the ECTS grade scale:

-          A Class: the highest commendation (SUMMA CUM LAUDE);

-          B Class: high commendation (MAGNA CUM LAUDE);

-          C Class: commendation (CUM LAUDE).
