The Multimedia Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (LMMFE), University of Ljubljana (UL) hosted the 2nd meeting of the WBnet project. Between April 16 and 18, together with LMMFE colleagues, in addition to regular meetings, they also prepared 5 training sessions in the field of multimedia and cyber security and 2 guided thematic experiments for project partners. The meeting started with the presentation of prof. Dr. Matevža Pogačnik in asst. Klemena Pečnik, who introduced the visiting institution (UL FE) and continued with a lecture on the development of study programs in ICT and multimedia in the future, especially highlighting the mention and role of short study programs in the form of microcredits. The afternoon program included a progress report or during the course of the project, submitted by prof. Dr. Ljiljana Pecić, coordinator of the WBnet project, and representatives of individual institutions. The event continued with the presentation of the laboratories at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, where multimedia content and equipment were at the forefront. In addition to the general architecture and multimedia equipment, the partners were also able to see the Laboratory for Radiation and Optics (LSO), where Dr. Aljaž Blatnik presented some interesting experiments, especially the technology of “hiding aircraft” from radars, changing the radiation pattern of the antenna, and the communication station for communication with the EU satellite, which is installed on the roof of the faculty. In the second part of the interesting visit to FE, Dr. Gregor Geršak joined with the presentation of the Laboratory for Metrology and Quality (LMK). The participants could thus easily see some interesting experiments in the field of measurement in multimedia and beyond, and were impressed by the temperature standard and unique systems for calibration, calibration and certification of measuring thermal cameras. The project day ended with a water test by RTV Slovenia, where asst. Klemen Pečnik and director Aljaž Bastič presented the history of RTV, the scope of activities, television studios and control (director’s) rooms with an emphasis on the work and roles of individual professional colleagues. The day ended with a tour of the museum at the entrance to Kolodvorsko Street. The activities of the second project day began with educational training on hybrid multimedia systems and advanced IP architecture to support them, which was carried out by Anže Zadravec, mag. Rok Žurbi from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The participants learned about the advantages of the most advanced IP architectures and, above all, hybrid multimedia systems that enable centralized monitoring and management of audio-video sources and a high degree of adaptability when placing equipment in spaces (lecture rooms, meeting rooms, laboratories…). Mr. Bojan Radulović from the company CISCO Slovenia continued, who presented the field of cyber security, especially the current challenges in this field. In the afternoon, there were meetings of the management committee, the quality assurance committee and a meeting of the dissemination committee. The third day was dedicated exclusively to multimedia training. Assistants Klemen Pečnik and Žana Juvan first presented to the participants the field of augmented reality (XR), technology and alternative ways of using XR technologies, and the vision of the use of LE in education. This was followed by an insight into virtual walks, practical examples, which were developed and produced under the auspices of LMMFE, as well as simple tools for creating virtual walks. In the second part, there was a presentation of the field of video production, everything from the basics of visual perception, creating moving images, to key equipment and basic equipment setup for simple production, presentation of basic rules and practical instructions in the field of video production. On behalf of the Association of Rectors of Private Universities, Milena Sajević attended the consortium meetings. The next meeting will be held at the end of September in Madrid.
